I have a new thought that has popped into my head regarding these two and I think it would be such a beautiful, bittersweet story if it went this way. And Damon has always said that the ending to the show is bittersweet.
I can't shake the feeling that something is going to happen to Penny this season. No one on Lost can be happy. It's a fundamental rule of the show it seems. And right now, Des is extremely happy. So, what if Penny ends up pregnant and she dies during childbirth, leaving Desmond to raise the baby alone.
Then what if he goes back to the island with the others and takes the baby with him. Now, this is a big assumption, but let's assume Claire is alive, but communing with the dead. Hopefully somehow in the final season, she will be united with Aaron and the rest of the Losties.
What if at that point Claire sees Desmond with the baby and finds out what happened. She knows that even after his loss he came back to help rescue them. I could see her offering to help him raise the baby.
It would be a yours and mine family and I think it would be beautiful. Claire and Aaron would finally get on that helicopter and get off the island, fulfilling Desmond's vision. But not only that but he would be able to protect her again like he should have in the first place after Charlie died.
I'm not going to get my hopes up mind you, but IMO Daire coming together like this would be beautiful and bittersweet. For me, it would be the perfect ending to Lost.
That's a great thought Lyndi. I'd like to see something along those lines myself. One of the things I am looking forward to is the reunion of everyone back to the island. I'm excited to see how it happens and who gets back at all time, or if they all get back together.
