Chapter 1: Once Upon a Time

Summary Prince Jack and Princess Katherine are set to marry. But when the threat of the wizard Benlinus is apparent, the King summons his head knight to protect her until the wedding...

The trumpets blazed over the throne room. The announcer, dressed in green and silver, stepped in front of the crowd in the Kings Court.

"Presenting, your Royal Highness, King Locke and his daughter, Princess Katherine." His voice loudly swept over the room. Everyone turned towards the large oak doors as they were opened and the King and Princess proudly walked in. His crown was a beautiful gold, clad in diamonds and rubies and sat on his freshly shaven, bald head. He wore a robe of the purest silk, colored silver and green. The princess wore a beautiful day dress, it was a velvet green and showed off her curves generously. Her hair, under her beautiful crown, was braided at the sides and pulled back, leaving a long, single braid going down her back. She did not smile as she passed the bowed heads, but walked to her throne and sat down, followed by her father. Once they were seated, everyone else stood and faced them. Because thats what one was supposed to do, of course.

The King got right to the point, "Presenting King Christian Shephard, Queen Danielle and their son, Prince Jack." Everyone bowed once more as the royal family stepped inside and approached the throne. The family stood by Lockes side. They were all clad in the finest of cloths, their colors, blue and gold. Jack stared at Kate as he approached the thrones and she, him.

"I am pleased to announce," King Locke continued, "The union of Princess Katherine to Prince Jack. Signed at birth, this marriage is finally going to take place."

The crowd roared into applause and Kate frowned. She knew this day was here. Knew she had to marry Jack. Had been told time and time again. They had met a year before and she found him amusing, yet obnoxious at the same time. She couldn't imagine herself marrying him. But knew it was her duty and thus, it was as it was.

"There will be a large feast tonight in their honor." King Locke continued. He smiled fondly at Kate, "My child. Your mother would have been proud." He nodded and soon, the crowd dispersed and she was on her way to her chambers to be dressed for the grand feast. She thought of her mother. Her dear, sweet mother. Who died ten years earlier after falling from a horse and breaking her neck. Her father had forbidden Kate to ride a horse ever since. And she longed to ride one. The feel the air push her hair back. Run freely. She hated being a princess. Wanted a simpler life. Hated being picked and poked when a new dress was being made. Hated being told where to go and when. And most of all, hated that she had to marry when she wasn't even ready. She sighed as she continued to her chambers.

"My enemies will know I am here," King Christian explained. "Especially the Wizard Benlinus." King Locke looked at Christian and nodded, "He has not threatened us as of yet, but I believe we must be on our guard."
"The princess needs protection. I will not have my sons future queen in danger." Christian said properly. "I have a legacy to leave."
Locke looked at Jack, who sat at the table, looking intently in on the conversation. "What should I do?" Locke asked.
Christian spoke up, "Keep a guard on her at all times. The wedding is set for five days from now. This must go off without a hitch."
Locke nodded, "I agree." He cleared his throat and turned to the knight by the doors. "Send in Sawyer." He motioned with his hand. The knight nodded and quickly went to fetch him.
"Who is Sawyer?" Jack asked.
"The Castles Head Knight. His father was once the head knight before him and his father before that and the list beyond continues. He is my most trusted knight and the kingdom has been safe for the three years since he's taken the position."
The doors opened wide and in came Sawyer. Clad in the finest gray uniform. The seams lined with silver. His broad chest, massive beneath the clothing. His shoulders wide and broad. His face was one that said do-not-mess-with-me. And Jack and Christian were already intimidated. His hair was tied behind him...a full head of golden locks.
"Your Highness," he bowed to Locke, then to Christian and Jack. He stood straight and said, "You called for me, my lord?"
"Yes yes," Locke answered, "I have a new assignment for you." He nodded to Christian and Jack, "Gentlemen, if you will excuse us?"
Christian and Jack stood up, nodding towards Locke. "We will see you at the feast," Christian said and together, he and Jack walked out of the room.
When Locke and Sawyer were alone, he motioned Sawyer to sit, ''Have a seat."
Sawyer sat down, his legs braced apart, elbows on the table. "Whats wrong my lord?"
Locke leaned back and placed his elbow on the arm of his chair, his chin resting on his fingers. "Christian Shephard has many enemies." Locke stated as a well-known fact. "And he is bringing the enemy attention here. Especially that of the Wizard Benlinus."
Sawyer leaned forward, "That is not an enemy one should have." He said.
"Right."
"We will do everything in our power to keep the kingdom protected. On this I swear."
"There is much more to just the Kingdom, Sawyer."
Sawyer rose a brow and Locke answered, "My daughter. The princess. She would be the main target to ruin the Shephards' happiness."
"I will assign someone right away to keep watch over her at all times-"
"No. I want you." Locke said simply.
"Excuse me? Want me to..ah...what?"
Locke smiled and leaned forward, "Katherine is my precious jewel. She is all I have left of Diane. And I want the best to keep watch over her."
"I assure you, my lord, that my men are the best trained in the world-"
"I want you." Locke said once again. "You are the best, Sawyer. I would trust you with my life."
Sawyer nodded, "I understand, my lord."
"Good." He slowly stood up. "I will be in my chambers, preparing for the feast tonight. You will start tomorrow morning. See her at her chambers and never leave her side until she rests her head on that pillow. It will only be for five days." He walked behind Sawyer, towards the doors. Sawyer closed his eyes and clenched his jaw, standing up and turning around. "But what about the kingdom, my lord?"
"Leave it to your second in command...whats the fellows name again? Desmond? Yes. He will do an excellent job I am sure."
"Yes your Highness."
Locke nodded to Sawyer and swept out of the room.

Sawyer frowed. Yes, this was an honor. To guard the kings most precious possession. But Sawyer felt the most important job was the safety of the castle during these five days. He clenched his fists as he made his way towards Desmond to tell him the news.

Making it to the Meeting Room, where the Knights met for meetings, Sawyer saw Desmond with several other men, discussing guard during the feast. Desmond looked at Sawyer, "Everything okay?"
Sawyer continued walking towards the back of the room and to another door, "Come." He said simply and Desmond followed him down another corridor and finally to Sawyers chambers, where Sawyer paced back and forth.
"What ever can be the matter?" Desmond asked.
"I am to watch over the princess over the next five days. That makes you in charge of the Kingdoms safety until then."
Desmond sat down on a nearby chair and nodded, "I understand. But Sawyer, you don't look to pleased with the job."
"I am not." He crossed his massive arms and looked out of the opening in his wall, showing the grounds to the forest. "I have an idea of how a Princess behaves. Spoiled. Careless. No smarter than the court jester." He turned back to Desmond, "Its a waste of five days."
Desmond stood up and patted Sawyer on the shoulder. "Yet I am sure you will do your best."
Sawyer frowned deeper, "I am sure she will drive me insane. Until she marries the Prince, she is my responsibility." He sighed hard. "Father would be proud," he said dryly.
Desmond chuckled and turned towards the door, "Have fun." He left, closing the door behind him.
Sawyer looked out at the night sky, "I bet I will."

Chapter 2: Cant Stand You!

Summary The princess and the knight get to know each other...whether thay like it or not...

She was awaken bright an early. Served breakfast in her room, as she usually liked it. Her hair was combed and her maid made a long braid in the back, entwining it with a beautiful silver ribbon. She was dressed in a pale yellow day gown with silver slippers. She looked out at her balcony and saw that it was going to be a beautiful day. Another day before marriage. She was going to enjoy her freedom before her impending doom, as she put it. She decided she was going to go into the forest and pick flowers, then pass them out to the children in the village. Smiling to herself, she went towards the door and opened it. She started to walk out and noticed someone following her. She smiled brightly at the knight, but one look at him and she saw how miserable he looked.

"Morning your highness." Sawyer said, bowing slightly. She stopped and nodded, "Good morning. Can I ah...help you with something?"
"No, your highness."
She lifted her head, her smile now unsure, "Okay then." She turned around, a puzzled look on her face and started down the tower. She wondered what he was doing in her tower, but didn't question him. He was dressed as a knight and she was sure he had business there for some reason. Getting her mind back on her task for the day, she reached the ground floor and started outside, going into the royal gardens.

He was still following her.

She turned around again, the smells of all the flowers reached her nose. "Are you sure I can't help you with anything?" She asked.
Sawyer crossed his arms, "I am sure." He gave her a smile that didn't reach his eyes. More like a polite smile, just to be nice.
She sighed and started walking again. Sawyer followed. And when she reached the gates that would lead to the forest, he stopped her.
"Where are you going?"
She turned around, now shocked, "Excuse me?"
"Where are you going?" He said slowly.
She humphed, "Like I have to explain myself to anyone. Why are you following me?"
"By orders of your father, of course." He said shortly.
"My father?"
He nodded slowly. That got on her nerves.
"My father told you to follow me?"
"Like I just said...if you hadn't been listening...your father ordered me to follow you until your wedding day." His smile was a sickening sweetness.
"Are you serious?!"
"Trust me. I wouldn't be here if it weren't." He said in a bored voice.
"What was that?"
"Nothing." He sighed, "Just do what you are doing and we'll all get through this alive."
She rose her chin, "Like hell!"
She marched back towards the castle and inside. Sawyer following her through corridor after corridor. "Stop following me, you pest."
"I wish I could, trust me." He muttered. She heard and continued towards the dining room where she knew her father was just sitting to his breakfast.
"FATHER!"
Locke quickly stood up, a large grape in his mouth. The Shephard family also stood up.
"My darling. I thought you don't like breakfast at the table-"
"Is this true? Do you have someone sent to follow me around everyday until my wedding?" Katherines eyes fumed emerald smoke.
Locke swallowed his grape and looked down the long table towards Christian and Jack.
"Why, yes." He looked at his daughter. "Its a safety precaution."
"Whatever for?" She bursted out.
"Rowr," Jack made a tiger growl from his end of the table. "She's a wildcat, isn't she?" He chuckled.
Sawyer stood by the door with his arms crossed and rolled his eyes. Kate glared at Jack, but looked back at her father.
"The Wizard Benlinus is an enemy of the Shephards. We're only keeping you safe."
Kate let out a frustrated breath and then sighed. She thought more that she didn't want to be married into this family.
Sawyer thought what a pain in the ass she really was. He'd been right about her.
"Its only for five days. Then you shall be wed to Jack."
Jack rose his brows at her when she looked at him. She smiled politely at the family, 'I am sorry for my intrustion. Please enjoy the rest of your breakfast." She said politely. Embarassed that she made such a debacle of herself. "Father," she nodded and turned around. Sawyer was right there. She rose her chin, avoiding looking at him and walked out of the room.
Sawyer followed.
She started walking back towards the gardens. "You are to keep a good distance away from me. I don't want to see you, hear you or even know you're there. Got it?"
He bit his tongue and said, "Yes, your highness."

Five minutes later, Sawyer stood behind Kate, watching her pick wildflowers and placed them in a basket. He rolled his eyes heavenward again. This is where the most protection was needed? Watching the princess pick flowers? "You gotta be kidding me." He muttered.
"Did you just speak?" She asked, still picking the flowers.
"No, Your Highness." He said loud, then muttered, "Pocket full of posies my as-"
"Uglyman says what."
"What?" He asked out loud, not hearing her clearly.
Kate smiled to herself and finished off with the flowers. She stood up and turned to him. "Now you can prove yourself useful and hold this basket."
He glared at her as she approached him. "Uh uh uh," she pointed her finger at him, 'Politely."
He snatched the basket from her, "Yes, your highness," he ground out.
"Better," she said brightly and turned around, walking out into the field, "Jerk."
"Peacock."
She turned around, 'What did you just call me?"
"I didn't call you anything." He said. "I was just clearing my throat."
"I bet you were." She looked at him doubtfully and passed the field, going back into the forest.
She walked around the trees and tried to enjoy herself, but as the day went on, she became more and more annoyed.
"I cannot believe I have to spend the last days of my freedom like this."
"Well its no picnic for me either."
"As you remind me every moment you can." She said as she turned around, glaring at him.
"Look Princess, I'm just trying to do my job. I may be just a knight, but I'd still like some respect."
She scoffed, 'Respect? Ha! You don't deserve any more respect than the court jester!"
"Why you spoiled rotten little-"
"How dare you talk to me in such a manner! I am the princess!"
"And an ugly one at that!" He shouted back.
She gasped and shouted, "Take that back!"
"Never!"

They both stopped and stared at each other. Breathing hard.

"I can do without you." She said through clenched teeth.
"Fine! See if I care!" He threw the basket of flowers down and stepped back. "I can stay in here all day and act like I can never find you!"
"Well that sounds like a hell of an idea to me!"
"Fine!"
"Fine!" She turned around and marched off towards an unknown destination. She was so upset. Her entire life, out of her hands. She couldn't believe what was happening to her. Arms folded, she marched on and on and didn't see the hole in front of her. She fell inside of it unexpectedly and hit the bottom hard.
She sighed and looked up. It wasn't so deep but she still needed help to get out. She refused to call for help...but she needed it...before she could decide what to do, a head popped above her.
"Need a hand?"
There he was. A smirk on his face and all. She pressed her lips together hard and turned, facing a wall of dirt.
"Are you hurt?" He asked.
She humphed.
"I take that as a no."
She stood silent.
"You know, you may like the forest, princess. But the wolves do come out at night."
She looked up at him and he rose his brows, "Looking for fresh meat."
She sighed and lifted her arms up.
"Is that a yes, rescue me look?" He smiled, revealing two heartthrobbing dimples.
She let out a frustrated breath, "Yes! Okay?!"
He gasped lightly, "It speaks after all."
"Just get me out of here!!"
"Get me out of here..." he drawled out.
"Please! Get me out of here please!"
"Now thats more polite." He smiled and pulled her out of the hole.

She sat down on the edge of the hole, looking down.
"Are you okay?" He asked her, leaning down.
"Yes." She said lowly. "And thank you."
"Was that a thank you I heard?"
She sighed and smiled, "Yes. Yes. You heard a thank you, now don't get used to them." She looked at him.
He smiled back at her. "I won't."

Chapter 3: Getting to Know You

Summary The knight gets to know the princess...

The next day found Kate sitting on the edge of a beautiful, sparkling creek. Small waterfalls appeared here and there. The sun streaking in only rays of sunshine, for the trees blocked the sky. It was a magestic setting. Sawyer leaned back against the tree and watched her, for there was nothing else to watch, really.
"So,'' he said, after the silence was too much to bear, "you spend everyday roaming through the forest like some fairy." He let out a sardonic laugh, "Tough life for a princess."
She turned around and looked at him, "Shut up." She said. "You have no idea what I have to go through."
"Woe is me." He smirked and sat down. "You get spoon-fed practically. Your hair is combed for you. You have people dress you and you do whatever you wish. Yeah, tough life."
"Woke up on the wrong side of the bed, did you?"
"I wish." He said.
She snorted angrily, "I have to marry someone I don't want to marry. But I can't complain because it is my duty. Shouldn't you do the same?"
"Who said I was complaining? And why wouldn't you want to marry Prince Jack-ula?"
She shook her head, "Never mind. Forget I said anything," she turned back to the creek.
She sounded so pitiful, Sawyer felt like an ass for berating her. He clenched his teeth and sighed hard. He looked at her again. Her back faced him. He saw her long, brown, wavy hair hang loose and touch the ground around her. She was wearing a baby blue, velvet dress that went well with her skin color. He almost thought she was beautiful...well...almost.
"Look," he said finally, standing up and sitting next to her. She avoided his eye. "I don't want to make the last days of your freedom hard for you." She looked at him then. "So lets just...start over. Its obvious we both didn't want to be in this situation."
He met her eyes then and felt an electric jolt. Her eyes were the most fascinating shade of green he'd ever seen. And then he noticed the small freckles on her face. She was suddenly aware of him too and felt something creep inside of her...but she pushed it away and looked back at the water.
"Okay," she agreed, saying it slowly. 'Fine then. We shall start over." She took a deep breath, looked at him and blessed him with a bright smile.
"Fine then."

The rest of the afternoon, they spoke to each other and talked about their lives. She wanted to hear all about his childhood and was fascinated when she learned that his forefathers were all head knights. She was impressed to say the least. Despite his brute appearance, he proved easy to talk to. And genuine. And...funny. He made her life more times than she had in her life. And she ended up having a good time.

For Sawyer, he was enchanted by her beauty, inside and out. He once said she was spoile and stuffy and just plain rude. But he'd gladly take that back after the afternoon they shared. He learned that she liked to paint, but her father never took her painting seriously. Because a princess did not paint for a living. She is to learn how to rule a kingdom when she marries and all that mumbo jumbo. He saw a sadness in her eyes. And he knew she didn't want the life that was chosen for her. He wished for just a moment that she could be happier. How? He had no clue.
"I wonder if there is a wishing flower or something that can grant me a wish." He said aloud as they slowly walked back towards the castle.
She smiled, "What would you wish for?"
"Alot of things." He said thoughtfully.
She looked up at him, "They say there's a fairy who grants people one wish. But, you have to be truly deserving of the wish. If not, the fairy won't grant it."
He looked at her, amused, "Thats the funniest thing I've ever heard of."
"You must not hear alot of funny things."
He chuckled and asked, "Okay then, so whats this "fairy's" name?"
She smiled as she looked straight ahead, "Simply, Sun."
He looked at her dubiously, "A fairy named Sun."
She nodded and he laughed and walked her the rest of the way to the castle.

The next day found them laying side by side on a hill top, staring at the white, puffy clouds as they passed.
"That one there! Look! I'm telling you, look how smooth the edges are. Its exactly the same!"
He turned his head to the side and looked closely, "Ah yes...youre right. It does look like your fathers head."
She laughed and he smirked. He loved her laugh. It was so alive. And it made his heart feel alive. Just being with her. She was so funny and so witty.
"Now what ever can that be?" She stared up and frowned.
He followed her gaze and there ws something in the sky...very small, which meant it was very far. But it was coming closer...
"Get up!" He commanded, pulling her up.
"What? Whats going on?"
He didn't answer, just grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the trees. He placed her back against it and jammed himself in front of her, arms braced on either side of her, looking ahead towards the sky. As he concerned himself with that, she breathed hard. Kate had never been this close to a man before. Her face was practically in his chest. His body, pressed up intimately against her. She smelled him...he smelled of outdoors, sandalwood...male. It was bewitching. However, she was shaking, for she didn't know what was going on.
"Sawy--"
"Shh!" He commanded as he watched a large dragon land where they once laid down, looking at the clouds.
He ducked, even though he didn't have to and squinted his blue eyes.
Two people jumped off of the large dragon.
"I'm telling you she was here!!!" A large man, wearing the ugliest shades green and purple robes shouted.
Kate froze when she heard the loud voice. She tried to look up at Sawyer, but he didn't let her.
"Well she is not!! How do you explain that Hurlugo??!!!" Asked another man dressed in the same robes.
"Benlinus is going to be very upset."
"Uh..you think?!"
"Shut it Charlie! It was your idea to use this stupid princess tracking device anyway! Who does that?!" He paced.
Just then the device beeped.
"There it is again.," Hurlugo said.
"Its obviously not going to work nimbleskull."
He followed the direction, "Its leading into that forest!!" They both turned and Sawyer hid his face behind the tree. His body shook with fury. The thread was real. They were trying to take the princess. He looked around, they had to get out of there. They couldn't be seen or heard...but there was one problem...

Kate had to sneeze.

Sawyer looked down at her, his face filled with dread. He shook his head urgently and stuffed his finger against her nose.
Her eyes watered saying, I can't help it!
Sawyer than squeezed her nose and she tried to bat his hand away. Then he jammed his hand against her mouth, peeking out, he saw them start to walk in their direction. He looked back at her urgently. But Kate couldn't help it.
She sneezed.
And they heard.

"Oi!" Charlie shouted, "That way!"
Sawyer gave her a quick glare before pulling her away from the tree, "Run!"

Chapter 4: What???

Summary The kinght and princess encounter a problem of a very strange kind...

Sawyer grabbed her hand and she followed behind him.

"I knew it worked!!" Hurlugo shouted as he started chasing them.
"No you didn't! You hated the tracking device!" Charlie shouted back as he ran.
"Oh shut up and get them!!!"

Sawyer dashed in a zigzag motion, hoping to confuse them. They weren't so close behind, but close enough. The forest was getting darker, the trees thicker. They were heading into a part Kate was sure she never ventured into. Their heavy breathing and the sound of crunching leaves were the only sound as they continued to run into the darkest part of the forest.
"We cannot go in here!!" Kate yelled.
"Its either this or get caught by those two idiots!"
"Why don't you fight them? You're a head knight!"
"They work for the Wizard Benlinus! They know dark magic. I don't. End of story." He ran and ran and all of a sudden they started falling down a hill. Their hands lost their grip as they fell. Down and down they went. Grunting and yelping. Once they hit the bottom, Sawyer quickly went to Kates side.
"Are you okay?"
"Never better," she said dryly and moaned as she started getting up. Sawyer helped her. She rubbed her backside. He had the insane thought that he wanted to rub it for her and quickly shook it aside. "I didn't see that coming."
"I hope you didn't."
"THERE!" Came Hurlugos shout from the top of the hill. And they came bounding down.
"Go go go!" Sawyer pushed Kate ahead of him and she ran, not knowing where she was going.

All of a sudden she slammed into a wall filled with vines and leaves. The forest was dim and she felt around. "We're trapped!!!"
Sawyer turned back, his hair whipping around and he saw them approaching. He turned back and felt around the vines, "There has to be a wayyyyy--"
"Sawyer!" He fell behind the vines and into a cave. Kate followed inside and bent down.
"I'm okay." He said as he slowly got up, looking around. "Where are we?" It smelled like some kind of stew cooking mixed with earth.
Kate gripped Sawyers waist. Sawyer immediately felt super-protective of her and pulled out his sword. "Stay behind me." He said as he held his sword with both hands, looking around.
"Eerrrreht sss-ooohw..."Came an eerie voice from the depths of the cave. Sawyer stiffened and held out an arm behind him to shield Kate as best he can.
"Show yourself!"
"Od uoy flesym wohs ot evah ton od I evac ym si siht."
Sawyer and Kates eyebrows rose. Sawyer had no idea what was being said. "Okay." Sawyer said loudly. "Listen, I come in peace. This is official royal business. We just need to pass through this cave."
''Dnatsrednu ton od I." And the next thing they heard was the sound of scuffling. Sawyer moved Kate back as he looked ahead of him. The next thing they saw was a tall man. He stood up, bumped his head on the ceiling of the cave, he muttered, ''Evac diputs," and sat down in front of them. Kate clutched Sawyers shoulder as she peeked to see him. He looked young. It was the long white beard and hair that betrayed his age. He wore tattered blue robes and blue slippers. Then he stared at them. Noticing Sawyers stiff disposition, the man put both hands up, "Uoy mrah ton lliw I."
Sawyer furrowed his brows, "What???"
"Wait!" Kate said, "I think I know his language." She wanted to step forward, but Sawyer held her back, "Whatever you have to say, you can say it behind me." He then looked back at the man.
"Sawyer, please. Its out only way out of here." She stepped out and he reluctantly let her, but didn't let her pass him. He kept his sword out as he watched.
Kate cleared her throat. "Ssecnirp eht ma I esaelp--"
"Ssecnirp?" His face showed surprise and he bowed his head slightly.
Sawyer turned his head to the left, meanwhile still looking at Kate and the man, "Am I missing something here?" He asked.
Kate smiled at turned to him. "He speaks Sdrawkcab."
"SdrawKcab?" Sawyer asked, extremely irritated and puzzled.
"Yes. Backwards. Everything he says is backwards."
Sawyer looked at the man, his face completely confused. "Okay then. So how in the hell do we get out of here?"
Kate put a hand up to calm Sawyer down and turned to the man. "Eman ruoy si tahw?"
"Jin-Jin." He said obediently, since she was the princess.
She smiled politely, ''Jin-Jin, ereh fo tuo teg ew od woh?"
He stroked his long beard for a second and finally, after a moment said, "Elzzup a."
''Elzzup a."
''Elzzup drah yrev a, sey."
"Wait wait wait whats going on here? You two are talking way too fast. Whats this about a puzzle?"
"Wow Sawyer, I'm surprised you picked that much up." She said smartly.
"Now whats that supposed to mean?"
"Enough!" She sighed and looked at Sawyer, "He's going to ask us a very hard question. And if we get it right, we get to go."
"And if we get it wrong?"
She turned to Jin Jin, ''Gnorw rewsna eht teg ew fi tahw?"
Jin Jin laughed then. It was a highpitched cackle.
"Whats he laughing for?" Sawyer asked.
Jin Jin stopped and said, "Efiw ym emoceb dna yats tsum ssecnirp, uoy tub. Og neht nac eh."
"On!"
"Wait wait, I didn't catch that. What did he say?"
Kate took a breath, giving Jin Jin a horrified look. "If we get it wrong, you can leave but I have to stay here and...be his wife!"
"Absolutely not! No way in Hades hell!" Jin Jin began to cackle again.
"Noitseuq eht ksa!!!" Kate shouted.
Jin Jin looked thoughtful for a moment, all the while stroking his extremely long white beard on his extremely young looking face. He cleared his throat and Sawyer and Kate gave each other a quick glance before looking back at him.
He opened his mouth and asked, "Raeb eht si roloc tahw. Gnola semoc raeb gib a. Erusopxe nrehtuosa gnivah edis hcae, noitcurtsnoc ralugnatcer fo sedis ruof htiw esuoh a sdliub nam a?"
Kate took in the question and then told Sawyer what Jin Jin asked.
"Thats impossible! Its a trick question! There is no ans--" she covered his mouth.
"Quiet!" She then looked at Sawyer intently. "We must be careful with our answer. Now think!" She pulled away and took a breath. "And don't be so stubborn. I don't expect you to have an answer anyway."
"Now I haven't insulted you in a long while what--"
"Quiet! I have to think." She stepped to the corner and faced the cave wall.
Sawyer placed the blade on the ground and leaned on his sword, looking at the smug look on Jin Jins face. "Think you're going to win this, do you?"
Jin Jin just smiled wide. And then cackled.
Sawyer frowned and stood up straight, starting to think himself now. "He's facing southern exposure," he muttered. Then it dawned on him. "I've got the answer!"
Kate turned sharply at him. "What? What is it?" She asked doubtfully.
Sawyer faced Jin Jin and was about to speak, "Sawyer! No!"
"Etihw." He said proudly.
Jin Jin stopped cackling and froze.
Kates eyes were wild when she realized the answer. "Thats right! Southern exposure! They would be in the north pole! Meaning it would be a polar bear! Polar bears are white!" She marveled at Sawyer.
Jin Jin was so upset he muttered and spat and kicked and frowned and all of a sudden the back of the cave opened.
"We're not wasting anymore time in here, lets go!" He grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the dark cave, hearing Jin Jin swear.
"Can you say that word backwards?!" She asked as she ran out.

Meanwhile, Hurlugo and Charlie kept searching through the vines.
"I'm telling you there's an entrance somewhere!"
"I finally believe you Charlie." Hurlugo said as he finally felt an opening through the vines. "In here! They couldn't have gone far!"
They entered the cave and looked around.
"Come out, come out, wherever you are?" Hurlugo laughed.
"AH!" Charlie shouted as he saw Jin Jin.
Jin Jin cackled then. "Ysae eb ot gniog si siht."

Chapter 5: Truth Be Told

Summary True feelings come out.

Sawyer and Kate ended up on the other side of the forest. She stopped at a tree to gain her breath from running away. Knowing they defintely lost Hurlugo and Charlies tracks.
"I've never in my life have had an encounter like that before," he said as he backed up against a tree, leaning his head back.
She looked up at him and smiled, "You must never get out."
He looked at her and said, "I take protecting the castle very seriously. You're right. The only time I get out, it has to do with protecting the castle."
Kate straightened and asked, "You never take a break?"
He shook his head, still looking at her.
"Not even to visit your mom?"
"My moms dead." He said without hesitating. Kate paused, "I'm sorry, I didn't know--"
"Its okay. She died a long time ago. I was raised in the castle." He said.
That made her freeze, "You were? I..I never even saw or knew you."
"I didn't expect you too. The princess was always guarded. Always where she had to be on her side of the castle. Theres over two hundred people living in the castle. I hardly even got to see you. A glimpse here, a glimpse there. I stood with my father in the control room or meeting room or somewhere you never were."
She listened to him and marveled at the fact. She was sad he didn't have his mother. She didn't have hers either.
Out of nowhere, she said, "I'm forbidden to ride a horse."
He looked at her, "I can understand why." He said, referring to her mother being killed from a horse accident.
"I sneak on a horse every so often in the dead of night when everyone is sleeping and ride into the forest."
He straightened, "You what??"
"For a head knight, you don't know whats going on truly."
He frowned at her, knowing the forest was extremely dangerous at nighttime. And also because she did what she wanted. She broke the law which forbid her to do things. She was a free-spirit. Didn't let anyone hold her down.
"I dress up as a lad just in case someone catches me.Its happened twice in three years. They never know I am the princess." She continued.
"A con artist." He said, growing more and more attracted to her by the second. "Why are you telling me this. So I can, in turn, tell your father?"
"You won't tell." She said simply, now starting to walk towards the castle.
He walked in front of her, stopping her, "How do you know?"
She looked up at him, "Because you won't." Her voice, determined, her green gaze locked into his.
She was right, he wouldn't turn her in. But he didn't want it to be true. She went around him and continued walking. He didn't say anything as he followed.
They came upon a part of the forest where he saw a lighting bug. It went up to his face and he swatted it. It buzzed around him angrily. He was angry in turn and swatted at it again. She turned around and when she saw what he was doing, she ran to him, "Stop it! No!" She grabbed his hand.
"What? Its just a stupid little bug."
"It is not! Its a fairy! Don't hurt it." She tugged on his hand, "Lets just get back to the castle."
He pulled his hand away, "Is that Sun fairy here?" He looked around as he saw another fairy floating, shining yellow.
"No. She's a different fairy." Kate kept walking. "And she won't grant you a wish anyway. You'll just ask for something useless."
He stormed up behind her, turning her around, spotting yet another floating fairy, "So what makes you think you know me so well? Huh? You don't know anything about me."
"Oh don't I? I've been spending hour after hour with you for three days. You really get to know a person that way." She turned and walked angrily.
"Get back here!" He shouted, another fairy came at his face and he shook it away, going to her. Seeing another five or so fairies on the way. He pulled her back again, "I forbid you to ride that horse again!"
She looked at him with shock, "Where did that come from??"
He breathed hard, some strands of blonde hair in his face, "You will get hurt."
She snorted, "I've been riding for a long while now. I know how to ride a horse! The only thing I long for is to ride it in the open! During the day! In front of my father and the entire world!"
"Your father doesn't want you to get hurt!"
"I am NOT MY MOTHER!" She shouted. "I will NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES SHE DID!"
He grabbed her upperarms now, shaking her, "YOU WILL NOT BE STUBBORN ABOUT THIS!"
"WHY does it matter TO YOU??!!!"
"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!!"

She froze. He froze. Unable to believe he just said that out loud. They stared at each other. Breathing hard.
And just like magic, as if they were frozen in time, they both went to each other and kissed.
Their first kiss was soft and sweet, closed mouthed and closed eyed as their lips touched. Electricity sparking wildly through each other. Slowly they pulled away, staring. Blue meeting green in wonder and awe.He clenched his jaw and stroked her face, her soft face. She closed her eyes as she let him, then opened them and reached out to touch his face. He lifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck, no words were said. His hands touched her shoulders behind her, then slid down to her waist, then gathered around her, pulling her to him. And then, they kissed again. This time is was passionate. This time he opened her mouth with his tongue and dipped inside. She tasted like sweet strawberry pie.
Thousands of fairies now surrounded them. The entire area lit up a golden, ethereal yellow as they continued to kiss...and kiss....and kiss and kiss...

A long while later, Sawyer pulled away and they caught their breath while they touched foreheads.She looked at him and he her.
"I...I..."she tried to speak but he shushed her and kissed her sweet lips again.
Her hands cradled his face and she kissed him yet again, their bodies humming, calling each other.
And then as if she were hit by lightning, she pulled completely away and turned around, "Oh my god." She covered her lips which were tingling from his stubble and lips.
"Kate," he said and reached out for her. She backed away and looked at him with a horrified face.
"I'm supposed to be marrying Jack." She shook her head, "I am so ashamed of myself."
"I'm not." He said. "Fuck Jack." He said simply. Wanting her more than anything in the world now. Especially since he tasted her.
She was horrified, "Such language!"
"Fuck. Jack." He emphasized every syllable.
She shook her head. "I am the princess. This is my duty..."
Sawyer clenched his hands, "I understand that Kate, but--"
"And since when is my name Kate?! As I recall, I am Princess Katherine--"
He took her and kissed her again, she melted against him and then pulled away. "Stop it! Stop this!"
"I cannot see you marry--"
"And what can you offer me? Huh? It doesnt matter anyway! You are not a prince. A princess can only marry a prince! It is the law!"
"And since when do you follow the law?" He growled.
She paused. He had her there. She took a deep breath. "I cannot."
"You can." He approached her and kissed her again.
"I cannot." She said against his lips.
His tongue went into her mouth and then he said, "Oh yes you can."
"I can..." Her hands tightened around him as she succombed to her true feelings. ''Sawyer," she whispered.
"Kate." He whispered back, jamming her against a tree and rubbing on her. His fingers threaded through her hair as did hers. His hands went up and down her body and then he bunched up her skirt in his hands and when he grabbed flesh, he wrapped her leg around his waist. "Kate," he said again and went down to kiss her neck and shoulders. He rubbed his buldging manhood against her and she gasped, feeling how long and hard it was. A hot desire instantly went through her body, she needed him.

They left a trail of clothes on the floor and he laid her naked body down on the soft grass...a very tiny creek passed through next to them. She was so incredibly beautiful. Her breasts were full. Her skin white and creamy...she was a dessert of the forbidden kind. His hands touched her all over, kneading her breasts, pinching, squeezing, stroking and she did the same. He opened her legs and slowly he entered her and started pushing deep inside. She clutched his massive shoulders and then after a few, slow pushes, the rhythm became faster. He pounded into her, all the while kissing her and telling her how much he wanted and needed her. And they made love, both with equal desire and passion. He soon spilled inside of her and they collapsed together. Two minutes later, they made love again. And it was faster, harder, animalistic. Lips were everywhere, flashes of tongue, the pumping was wild. Kate screamed in passion. He demanded her to call his name out loud. She demanded he go harder and faster. And after that was over and they made love yet again, Sawyer was sure he would break her.

They spent the rest of that afternoon making love and having hard core sex. Sawyer loved her more than words could ever say. Kate loved him more than words could ever say. So they showed each other. Exploring each others' body. He vowed to her that he would die before ever allowing her to marry Jack.But she shushed him and told him to enjoy the moment they had...that the time will come when they had to talk about it. For now, they made love until the streaks of sunset were well gone and the sky was black.

They held hands as they walked towards the castle. Kate with a blush that said 'I've been thoroughly made love to'. Before they were in sight of the castle, he kissed her passionately again and before they knew it, behind the tree, they had a quickie. She laughed when it was over and already longed to feel him inside of her again. They were giddy and so in love. But they had to remember to keep it quiet. If anyone were to find out about this, Sawyer would be beheaded. And she couldn't have that ever.

He walked her to her room and they laughed and teased each other. He asked her if they should chance it and he spend the night in her chambers. But she said that her maids come in early to wake her, that they'd have the rest of the next day to make love in the forest.

The stone walls echoed so he whispered very quietly, "I love you Kate." And then loudly, "Till tomorrow princess."
She nodded cordially, "Tomorrow."
She turned and went into her room and he stared at the door a long while before he left her tower.

"So nice of you to come to bed."
Kate jumped when she heard a female voice come within the darkest part of her room. A candle was lit by her large bed and she moved towards it. "Who's there?"
Queen Danielle stepped from beyond the shadows. Her face hard, her eyes a beautiful shade that was almost eerie. "Had a nice day?" She asked casually. Staring at Kate from head to toe.
Kate cleared her throat, "Is there something I can help you with your Majesty?"
"I've come to give you a warning."
Kate started to sweat, she was sure that was it. That she and Sawyer had been caught.
Kate stuck up her chin, "A warning? W-what would that be?"
"Benlinus wants you as his bride." She said simply.
Kates brows furrowed as Danielle approached Kate, "Okay," she said slowly. "I know he is out to get me."
"Let him." She ordered and backed Kate against her stone wall.
"Excuse me?"
"I want my son to marry Princess Shannon. She is far more prettier than you are. She will give me a beautiful grandson. Her family has a history of having firstborn sons. Jack needs a firstborn son. You will not give him one."
Kate was confused and shook her head, "So...you want me to be kidnapped by Benlinus?"
"No," she said. "I want you to call off the wedding and say that you will marry Benlinus." She clarified. "He is coming on your wedding day. You will kiss him in front of everyone."
Kate was horrified, "And if I don't?"
"Oh," she chuckled, "You don't want to know. But lets just say...your father will have a very...unfortunate and tragic accident." She backed away.
"You wouldnt."
"I would." She said coldly as she walked towards the door. "Oh, I would."
She giggled and walked out of the room confidently.
Kate backed into her bed and cried.

Chapter 6: Uh Oh!

Summary Trouble comes to the castle as more truth is revealed.

The next day, royalty from far and wide began to come to the castle in preparations for the royal wedding. Princess and Princes alike all gathered to stay at the castle until the wedding. Kate didn't want to see anyone. Sawyer thought it unwise to go into the forest after being chased by Benlinus' men and even though he wanted her badly, he wouldn't risk her safety. There was a grand, midday feast that Kate had to attend. She sat beside Jack and cringed the entire time. She and Sawyer shared glances at each other and she realized she had to be careful. Because everytime she looked at him, it was so obvious that she loved him. Princess Shannon was there, sitting next to Princess Claire. And Kate cringed at that as well, remembering what Queen Danielle said about the deal. She hadn't told Sawyer yet, she didn't know what would happen.

Currently, the princess was in the royal painting room. A large window overlooked the grand royal gardens. There was a beautiful array of purples and yellows and reds and oranges. Her easel faced the window and she painted. But it wasn't a relaxing experience. She was tense. And as Sawyer sat by the window, watching her, he noticed.

"Whats wrong Kate? You seem a little tense."
"You're wrong," she said shortly as she painted a sloppy rose garden. She stopped and then looked at him, "I'm a LOT tense." She slammed her brush down and sat by the window as well. He scooted over and placed his arm around her. She shrugged it off, "Not here."
Sawyer sighed, "No one is allowed in here. No one will know." He went to kiss her neck. She loved it, but pushed away, "We'll get caught."
"No we won't." He kissed her chin and she couldn't resist. "I want you again."
She sighed into his lips the moment he caught hers, "Its too risky."
"I dreamed about you all night. You don't have to tense up about us." He said against her lips. "Give into it.'' He grabbed her hips and pulled her close, then his hands were all over her. She surrendered and touched him back.
But it was short lived when a loud knock sounded on the door. Kate jumped off of Sawyer and ran to the easel, all worked up. Sawyer just smiled and sat back casually as the large oak doors opened.
In came prince Jack.
Sawyer stood and bowed as he was supposed to and Kate curtsied. "My Lord."
"My Lady." Jack said, hands on hips, he looked around and his eyes came upon Kates miserable drawing. "How charming." He cleared his throat and said, "May I have a word?"
Kate was still recovering from Sawyers kiss and she placed some hair out of her face, "Of course."
Jack looked over at Sawyer, who was sitting down with his legs crossed and arms folded as if he owned the place. Jack squinted his eyes, "Alone."
Sawyer stiffened, "I've orders not to leave her-"
"By order of the Prince." Jack said through clenched teeth.
Kate stood silent and watched as Sawyer slowly stood up and walked towards the door, both men staring at each other. "Yes, your majesty," Sawyer said through his own clenched teeth. One last look at Kate and he closed the door behind him.

Sawyer stood against the cold stone wall, resting his head back when Princess Shannon walked by slowly, staring at him. He nodded cordially to her and all of a sudden, she stopped.
Sawyer straightened, "Are you lost princess?" He asked, wondering why she was staring at him so far.
"Yes," came Shannons voice. She was wearing a beautiful soft pink dress, her hair long and flowing about her shoulders and back. She walked close to him and he looked down at her. "I'm trying to find a way to the gardens," her voice was silky and she purred, "I've heard they're beautiful." Shannon was looking all over his face and it made him uncomfortable. "Can you show me?"
Sawyer moved away from her and then looked back at the doors, "I'm not supposed to leave my post." Like hell he'd leave with Kate still locked in there with Jack.
Shannons hands all of a sudden came up to his chest and pushed him back against the wall. "But I think you'll like this trip to the gardens." She purred.
Sawyer took her hands off of him, "I don't know what you mean princess." But he definitely knew what she meant and he didn't want it.
"Of course you know what I mean," she pushed herself on him, "I saw you today at the feast. Has anyone told you how utterly handsome you are?"
"Princess, please," he tried pushing her away.

Meanwhile, in the room, Prince Jack stared at Kate.
"You are truly, truly beautiful." He said. She was uncomfortable now, on guard as he got closer to her.
"Yes, I know." She said as she raised her chin.
He looked at her and let out a snort, then said, "And I'd love nothing more than to marry you." He got closer.
"Of course." She said, trying not to show how nervous she was. If he tried anything, she'd shout for Sawyer.
"Any man would be lucky to have you."
"Right." She said, he looked as if he were about to lean in and try to kiss her.
But just as he leaned in, he said, "But I am in love with another."
She stopped cringing and said, "What?"
"I know. I know, its a low blow," he stepped away and stared at her painting. "Its hard to accept. I mean, I am a fine piece of art myself."
Kate tried not to gag and instead said, "But...but-"
"Shh," he turned to her, "Its okay. I understand the embarrassment this will cause you, but I assure you will get over it."
She looked absolutely puzzled and at this he said, "Its princess Claire. She is a stunning beauty. Perfect blonde hair, perfect blue eyes." He turned to her, "Thats my type you see."
"I see." She said vacantly.

Outside the room, Shannon stepped back quickly when Queen Danielle walked by.
"There you are," Danielle said to Shannon. "I've been looking for you."
Shannon knew of Danielles plans and frowned at her, "Your majesty."
Danielle looked at Sawyer, "Is the princess in there?"
Sawyer cleared his throat, uncomfortable in his current situation, "Yes, with Jack."
"Perfect." Danielle said, "Come along Shannon," Danielle grabbed Shannons hand and brought her inside. Sawyer took a sigh of relief and stood there as the door closed behind them.
Jack and Kate turned to face Danielle and Shannon.
Jack rose his chin, "Now is the best time to tell you."
Danielle stopped, "Tell me what?" She turned to Kate and gasped, "You're not with child are you?"
"Hell no!" Kate shouted
Danielle folded her arms and looked at Jack, "Tell me what?"
Jack placed his hands on his hips, "I'm calling the wedding off."
"What?" Danielle shouted. "Whatever for?" She took a sharp look at Kate. "You didn't tell him, did you?"
"Tell me what?" Jack asked as Kate shook her head.
Danielle looked at Jack, "About princess Shannon!"
"Princess Shannon?" Jack asked.
"Well why on earth are you calling the wedding off?"
He stuck his chin up, "I'm in love with princess Claire."
Danielle froze, Kate looked from Danielle to Jack and back again.
"You cannot be. I want you to marry Shannon!"
"What?!' Jack exclaimed.
"I cannot marry him!" Shannon cried out. Everyone turned to her.
"Why NOT?!" Danielle demanded.
"Because I am in love with the royal knight standing outside of this room!"
"The hell you are!!" Kate bursted out and everyone turned to her.
Danielle ignored Kate and turned to Shannon, "Do you even know his name?"
"No," Shannon folded her arms, "But he's the best looking man I've ever seen in the world." She looked at Jack, "No offense Jack."
"None taken." Jack said and turned to his mother, "Now you see why I can marry Claire!"
"You cannot!!! I demand you do not!!" Danielle shouted.
No one noticed Sawyer run into the room upon hearing all the screams, followed closely by King Christan and King Locke.
"WHY NOT!" Jack roared back.
"BECAUSE CLAIRE IS YOUR SISTER!!"
There was an erry silence in the room as shocked faces registered what Danielle just said. Jack fumed, "You are lying. How is she my sister?"
A groan was heard from the doors and everyone turned to Christian. Sawyer went to stand next to Kate and through the shock, no one notice him place his hand on her lower back.
"Father, is this true?"
Christian looked at his son and nodded miserably.
"How?!"
"She was a a love child! He had an affair with Claires mother."
Gasps were heard throughout the room. All except from Sawyer.
"Oh my god." Shannon said.
"This cannot be happening." Jack said.
Shannon went over to Sawyer and placed her arm around his waist, Sawyer shrugged her off.
"Can someone explain to me what the deuce is going on?" King Locke demanded.

Before anyone could explain anything else. Screams were heard outside and the castle walls shook. Everyone tried to grab onto something.
Namely, Shannon grabbed onto Sawyer and Sawyer grabbed onto Kate, trying to shrug off Shannon.
Shouts from the knights were heard as Desmond approached the room, "Your majesty! We must leave the castle at once!!" He shouted.
"Whats happening?" Locke asked.
"Benlinus is attacking!!"
"WHAT?!" Danielle gasped. "That wasn't part of the deal!!"
Everyone turned to her. "What did you just say?" Christian asked.
"NO TIME!" Desmond shouted, "We must get all royalty to safety now! To the secret tunnel your majesty!"
Christian, Danielle, Jack and Shannon were quickly ushered out by about ten knights. Locke turned to Sawyer, "Get my daughter safely to the tunnel!"
"Of course!" Sawyer replied and followed, clutching Kate in his hands.

As they all ran, the castle walls were coming down. Rocks and stones fell all around them as the castle broke apart.
"Keep up!" Sawyer roared at Kate as he clutched her hand, dragging her behind him.
The shaking became fierce and he lost track of the others, but he knew the way to the tunnel.
They had to leave that section of the castle, go out through the fencing field and into the other side of the castle, behind a petunia bush. There the tunnel would lead them to a safe part of the forest, which was protected by magical trolls, who owed their life to the king.
As they began to run towards the exit, a large pile of rocks fell down in front of them, and they were forced to go back in the castle.
"Oh no!!" Kate cried out.
"There's another way!!"
Sawyer backtracked and found another way out of the castle. They made it outside and ran until out of nowhere, they fell back. Sawyer quickly got up, grabbed Kates hand and tried to run again,but he couldn't reach her. There seemed to be some sort of invisible wall seperating them. As if Sawyer was stuck in a bubble. Kate banged on the invisible wall.
"NO!" She cried out. 'Sawyer!!"
"KATE!" He called out, but Kate couldn't hear him at all.

A dragon came down and off came a short little man with thinning hair and large, scary eyes. He walked over to Kate.
"My lovely." He smiled.
"If YOU TOUCH HER-"
Benlinus looked at Sawyers ranting self, "Sorry, can't hear you." Came his beady little voice.
"Let him GO!" Kate told him.
"No can do. You're coming with me." He grabbed her arm. Sawyer flipped out like a tiger in its cage. He banged and shouted and ranted on and on as Benlinus dragged Kate away onto his dragon. Kate screamed for him to let go, but his one grip was powerful, she couldn't get away.
She watched helplessly as Sawyer banged away in his invisible bubble.
Sawyer watched as Kate floated away.
He collapsed to his knees and let out a tortured cry.

Chapter 7: Here We Go

Summary The adventure is just beginning...

Sawyer stood up and decided to take charge. He had no idea where Benlinus was, but he was determined to find out. Just as he began to walk, he spotted two people coming from out of the forest. One was round, the other short...he squinted..."No..."

But it was. Hurlugo and Charlie came walking out of the forest. Sawyer grabbed his sword and charged at them, full speed. Hurlugo and Charlie put their hands up, waving in surrender and when they realized Sawyer wouldn't stop, they jumped.
"Oi!!!" Charlie shouted.
Sawyer stopped in front of them, raging like a bull. His legs were braced apart, his strong arms held the sword in front of him and hair was in his face, his eyes peeking menacingly from behind.
"Take me to Benlinus." He growled.
"We're never going back to him!" Charlie ranted. "He left us in the forest to die."
Sawyer stood up a little straighter and asked, "What?"
Charlie scratched his head, "Yeah, he hasn''t even attempted to look for us."
"I thought you knew magic." Sawyer still growled.
"We're only his apprentices-"
"Were." Charlie corrected.
"Were his apprentices. For now we do his bidding-"
"Used to do his bidding," Charlie corrected again.
Hurlugo sighed, "Used to do his bidding." Emphasizing on the words "Used to".
Sawyer put his sword down, "So let me get this straight. When the princess and I ran from you in the forest...you didn't know magic."
They both shook their heads.
"So I could have kicked your-"
"Okay okay, no need for profanities." Hurlugo said. "It was awful by the way. We were stuck in that crazy Jin Jins cave all night long."
"Some kind of puzzle question like a bridge that was red?" Charlie looked at Hurlugo in question.
Hurlugo rolled his eyes, "Something about a ship that was yellow."
"And if they coincide...how many people were on the bridge...something like that..." Charlie said.
"We didn't answer."
"He let you go?" Sawyer asked, inrcedulously.
"Got tired of us," Charlie sniffed.
"Just told us to leave."
Sawyer was getting dizzy and put his hand up so they could stop blabbering for one second. "Where is Benlinus' castle?"
"Oi! A long ways from here. Dragons the best way to get there. Its up on a really high mountain in a dangerous part of a forest outside of Merric." Charlie answered.
"And we're not going back." Hurlugo said once again for good measure.
"Benlinus has the princess." Sawyer turned and walked to the left, then the right, having no clue how to even get to Merric...which was a good hour away on horseback. He started running towards the stables to get his trusty steed.
"Hey!" Hurlugo called out. 'Wait up!"
Sawyer didn't stop until he reached the stables and pulled out his white horse he named Elysian. Many horses were already gone, having been frightened during the attack. Sawyer marveled on how Elysian stayed behind.
Hurlugo and Charlie reached the stables, out of breath and watched as Sawyer saddled up the horse.
"Wait...you...cannot go alone..." Hurlugo breathed.
Sawyer kept tying the buckles on the beautiful horse, ignoring them.
"Its a dangerous journey on foot." Charlie agreed.
"We know things that could help you."
Sawyer looked back at them, "Like what?"
"Well, we may not know much of anything of magic...but there are tiny little things we can do. We've been teaching ourselves magic."
"So you lied to me back there. You do know magic."
Hurlugo and Charlie looked at each other, 'Well," Charlie answered, ''Maybe just a little."
"I have no time for this!" Sawyer roared at them and jumped ontop of his horse.
"Wait!!!" Hurlugo called out. "We would love to see Benlinus fall flat on his ass."
Charlie nodded. "We'll help you get there."
"You'll only slow me down." Sawyer told them.
"We won't!"
"We promise!!"
"FINE!" Sawyer finally agreed. "Lead the way!"
Charlie and Hurlugo jumped with glee and looked to see what was left of the horses. One beautiful brown horse and one donkey.
"I'm not riding with you," Hurlugo told Charlie.
"I'm not riding with you!!" Charlie told him back.

A quick game of rock, quill and cutting shears determined Hurlugo would have the beautiful horse.

~~~~~~~~~
Benlinus threw her in a stony, dark cell. Kate fell to the floor, but got up and grabbed the bars, looking around. She could see crystal balls and cauldrons and smoke and a large collection of wizarding books and the list continued.
"Alexandra!!" Benlinus called out.
"You're never getting away with this!" Kate shouted to him.
His scary eyes turned to her and approached the bars. "And why wouldn't I?" Kate opened her mouth, but he interrupted her, "Wait, let me guess. Prince Jack will come and rescue you?" He cackled.
Kates face cringed as Benlinus turned away. "Just remember dear, I'm a wizard. He is not." He looked up a spiral set of stone stairs, "Alexandra!!!" He turned, fanning out his dark blue cape and going to a steamy, bubbling cauldron.
A young girl came down the stairs. She was beautiful, dressed in a velvet blue dress, her brown hair fanned around her. Kate wondered who she was.
"Yeah?" She crossed her arms, looking a tad rebellious.
He glared at her, "Yeah?"
She sighed, "Yes?"
He continued to look into his cauldron, adding various things inside, "Alexandra, I want you to prepare a meal for our new guest."
Alex quickly turned to the cage and saw Kate. She slightly gasped, "Dad? Is that the-"
"Yes. Princess Kate." He looked at Kate, "Isn't she beautiful?"
Kate frowned and turned around, staring at the stone wall.
As Benlinus busied himself with whatever he was doing, Alex went to the large stone hearth and started making a soup. She kept glancing over at Kate.
Fifteen minutes later, "Alexandra!" He said sharply. "Keep an eye on the princess. I've some things to take care of." Benlinus said and left.
Alex frowned and then offered Kate a bowl of soup, putting it on the stone floor in the cell, bending down.
Kate left it there, "I'm not hungry."
"I don't expect you to be." Alex said, "Just following my dads orders."
Kate looked at Alex, "Where did he go?"
"Probably to get someone to marry both of you. Once your married, you'll be bound to him by some spell."
Kate teared up just a little, but didn't cry. She missed Sawyer terribly. How would he ever find her?
Alex looked at Kate with sympathy. "I'm sorry I can't help."
Kate looked up sharply, "Can't you? Or you just don't want to?"
Alex shook her head, "I can never defy my father."
"RUFF!!! RUFF!!!"
Kate looked at a beautiful golden dog approached Alex.
"What was that? Never defy your father? Hahahahahahaha..."
Kates mouth dropped. The dog just talked.
Alex rolled her eyes and sighed, "Shut up Vincent."
"That dog...it just...it talked...."
Alex looked at Kate, "Of course he talked. Vincents my uncle. My father trapped him in a dogs body long ago." She sighed longingly, "Just like Karl."
Kate came closer to the bars, "Karl?"
Alex nodded, "He was my prince. An actual prince who fell for me. Until my father found out. He turned Karl into a frog and now he's out there somewhere...probably..." she stopped.
"Now, my dear, don't think about it anymore." Vincent put a paw on Alex's shoulder.
Kate looked at Vincent, "And why did he trap you?"
Vincent turned to Kate, "Because I was going to stop him. Its a long story really. But the fact of the matter is that I've been a dog ever since. And there's nothing I can do about it."
Kate was fuming, "How can you let him control your lives like this?"
Alex looked at Kate, "He's a powerful man." She slowly stood up and started walking away.
"Wait! You can defy him! You can help me get out of here and we can overtake him together! You must know some magic!"
Alex stopped and turned around. "It can't be done! Your trapped here forever! Just like the rest of us!" Then Alex's voice grew softer. "You'll learn to deal with it in time." One more nod and Alex fled up the stony, spiral stairs.
Vincent whimpered, "Poor girl. When Karl was here, she was so full of life...so adventurous." Vincents head went down and he walked away.
Kate was livid. Benlinus controlled everyones lives. She was more determined than ever to try and find a way out of there. To help Vincent become human again. To help Alex find Karl. To help herself find the love of her life. To find her Sawyer...
Meanwhile, Sawyer, Hurlugo and Charlie rode through lands and forests on the way to Benlinus' castle.
Charlie took out a beautiful, golden mirror, filled with diamonds and rubies.
"What in Merlins name are you doing?" Hurlugo asked, Sawyer was behind them, sighing and asking himself why he agreed for them to come along.
"I'm checking my teeth. I told you those leaves we ate this morning weren't for eating. You don't know a magical leaf from real one."
"Well mines tasted like beef. Why, I even had one that tasted like cocoa beans."
Charlie snickered, "Yeah right. Well my magical leaf tasted like leaf!"
He stopped picking his teeth and grinned in the mirror. "Why, I'm a handsome devil."
"Take out the word handsome and you've got it right."
Charlie threw a glare and continued looking in the mirror.
"How far is Dharma Hollow?" Sawyer asked, so tired of their bickering.
Hurlugo called back, "Just another half a mile or so. Straight ahead."
"Good." Sawyer said and galloped ahead.
"Oi!"
"Come on then!" Hurlugo galloped behind him.
Charlies donkey got scared and raced along, almost throwing Charlie off, making his mirror fall.
"My mirror!"
Hurlugo laughed and called behind, "You wanted to steal from the rich and give to the poor! There's your chance!"
Charlie frowned and tried to keep up.
A few minutes later, they were at Dharma Hollow. A dark, sinister forest no one ever dared venture into. They all stood at the entrance.
Charlie cleared his throat, "There isn't perchance a...dragon laying around somewhere, is there?" Hoping to fly it over the scary forest.
Sawyer took a deep breath and entered the forest.
Hurlugo followed...followed by a very nervous Charlie....
Chapter 8: Lets Make a Deal
Summary An encounter of the cackling kind...
They had been traveling in the deep forests of Dharma Hollow the entire day and well into the night. Sawyer was unwilling to stop, eager to get to Kate. Hurlugo and Charlie, however, were only unwilling to stop because it was just so scary to be in there. Everything was dark and black and grey. The crows, the trees, the grass, even the small, poisonous creeks that passed through. And not a single spot of blue sky could be found.
Nighttime had firmly settled in and somehow the full moons light crept in through the trees, wolves could be heard baying at it.There was an eery glow and air was a bit cold. wolves could be heard baying at the moon.
Charlie looked nervously around, his donkey even seemed scared. It nervously walked quietly. "N-n-ot so f-f-ar to the c-c-castle, is there?" He asked Hurlugo.
"I've seemed to have forgotten." Hurlugo said as he looked around, seeing shadows run through, scaring the whit out of him.
Sawyer, on the other hand, trailed right through. His face hard, showing no mercy, giving the aura of a being another should not mess with. His sole object was to find Kate and kill Benlinus. But as the night wore on, Sawyer knew they had to stop and make camp. There was no way he'd be too tired to rescue his Kate, a woman he knew he had fallen in love with. A woman he knew he'd stop at nothing to try and marry her, even if the law was against them.
He announced the halt to Hurlugo and Charlie, who immediately protested.
"Oi," Charlie whispered feverishly, not wanting anything to hear him, "Are you barkin mad?"
"I agree with Charlie, you must be crazy. There's no way we'll survive the night--"
"It'll only be for a few hours. Three, maybe four at the most." Sawyer said with a strong voice and leaped off his horse. Charlie was so scared, he all of a sudden, really had to go tinkle.
"Um," he said nervously as he jumped off the donkey, "I ah, have to go...if you know what I mean."
Sawyer tied Elysian to a tree and said without looking, "Go. No ones stopping you."
Charlie stood there nervously and Hurlugo looked at him, "If you soil yourself, I don't know you anymore."
Charlie gave him a glare, "Its bloody scary out there. I'm not venturin off alone mate."He looked at Sawyer, "Come with?"
Sawyer looked at Charlie incredulously, "I'm not even gonna answer that one, Sport." He started gathering up some black wood to start a fire..
Charlie looked at Hurlugo with pleading eyes, but Hurlugo quickly turned around to tie his horse up.
Charlie began muttering under his breath and turned towards the extremely dark forest. He cleared his throat, took a deep breath and went towards a secluded section.
"Hell, I have to go too." Hurlugo muttered and went the opposite way to do his business.
Sawyer started the fire and it puffed out black smoke, the fire itself was a deep, orange-red color, almost like blood.He stared into that fire, not wanting to talk to anyone. Thinking only of Kate. Her face, her smile. The way her head tilted when she thought he said something interesting. The way her hair smelled. The way she smelled. The sound of her laugh. The sound of her voice. The green of her eyes. He could almost see her face in the fire. Could almost feel her. His blue gaze burned into the orange-red. 'I miss you Kate' he thought to himself, 'I'm comin for you'.
'Sawyer...'
He could hear her voice in his mind. His eyes closed.
He could feel her fingers on his face. The way she felt, God, she was so soft. She traced light circles around his face and took her sweet tasting lips into his. Her hands went through his hair and his hands roamed over her body. Up and down her beautiful body, touching her beautiful brown hair. He felt her tongue in his mouth and his greeted it. The kiss went deeper and deeper. Heavens above, how he wanted to feel inside of her once again. To push in and out of her glorious, wet core. He throbbed and was about to explode as he laid her down on the floor and unbuttoned his trousers--
"OI!!"
The sound broke the spell and Sawyer opened his eyes. And to his horror he was kissing a woman...but not just any woman...
"Its the Grand High Witch!!!!!" Charlie belted out.
Sawyer got up quickly and scooted back against the tree, his hair across his face, his lips wet as he tried to regain his breath.
"Stand back you wench!!!" Hurlugo shouted.
Her long, blonde locks lay around her as she slowly got up, looking so smug and so satisfied. Her tongue touched the top of her lips as she smiled. Then she looked at Sawyer and cackled.
Sawyer quickly reached for his sword and placed it in front of him, Hurlugo and Charlie quickly ran behind him.
The witch slowly stood up and walked casually towards them.
"You can never beat the Head Knight you wench!" Hurlugo shouted again from behind Sawyer.
"You know," she said smartly, "I like to be called by my given name. Juliet will do." She smirked and eyed Sawyer.
"Get back mate, she's evil!"
All three stepped back slowly as Juliet kept walking towards them.
"My, that was such fun!" She said cheerily. She wore a dark green and black velvet dress which showed off the swell of her breasts. The collar reached high and went around her chin. She wore a tiara made of onyx with one sparkling diamond in the middle. Her eyemakeup was heavy and black, her cheeks a light hue of pink, her lips deep and red as sin. Her eyes seemed to pop out more from all the black around it. She looked utterly evil.
"Get back hellion!" Charlie said, a long black branch in his hand.
She looked at him dubiously, "What are you gonna do? Poke me to death?" She gave a hearty laugh.
Sawyer stood in his battle stance, ''What'd'you want?" He growled.
She bit her bottom lip and added a hop to her step, "What makes you think I want anything?"
"Listen you! We're just passing through the hollows! We don't want any trouble!" Hurlugo added.
"I'm sure you don't." She went closer, this time raising her hands, glittery silver smoke passed between them.
"Duck for cover! Shes gonna turn us into bleedin frogs!" Charlie shouted.
She cackled again and looked at Sawyer, "I saw the girl in your mind."
Sawyer flinched, "Stay out of my head."
She ignored him. "She's pretty. So, she must be locked up in Benlinus' tower." The witch assumed.
Sawyer growled, "Stay away from her."
Juliet made a mock gasp. "Why would you think I'd do anything to ruin your efforts to save her?" Shee saw right through them.
"Because your a witch!" Charlie said, still behind Sawyer.
"And an evil one at that!" Added Hurlugo.
She laughed, "I guess appearances aren't so deceiving." She raised her hand and made Hurlugo come before her.
"Hey!!" Hurlugo shouted as his feet dragged without permission. She looked scarier up close. She gave a wicked smile and turned Hurlugo into a frog.
"NO!!" Charlie shouted and ran towards the frog Hurlugo, who hopped up and down.
Juliet cackled and then turned Charlie into a fly. Hurlugo promptly started chasing Hurley around to eat.
Then her gaze locked with Sawyer, who stood there stunned.
She stood straight and touched her chin, "Hmm, what can I turn you into?"
Sawyer held his sword up higher. As if that could ever block her silver spells.
"Your so handsome, its almost tragic to turn you into anything."
"Stay away from me." He growled.
She gave him a brilliant smile, "You growl so much, maybe you should be a wolf."
He raised his sword, "I am NOT afraid of you."
She eyed him, "I can see."
"Nothing will stop me from rescuing Kate. Turn me into an ass and I'll save her as an ass."
She smiled at him, "Such a romantic."
He stood in his battle stance, ready for anything.
She rose her hands high and then all of a sudden stopped and put them down. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"I'll tell you what. Why don't we make a deal?"
"A deal? With you? Sorry, but I don't tend to trust Grand High Witches."
She laughed at that. "I want Benlinus."
He gave her a disgusted face. "Excuse me?"
Her face turned into that of lust. "Ben makes me shiver with gooseflesh. He's a tasty little morsel of crow pie."
Sawyer stood straighter, "So whats the deal exactly?"
She looked at him and smiled, "I help you get your precious Katie-bear. And you help me trap Benlinus. He shall be my love slave."
Sawyer stood up and put his sword down. "How do I know youre telling the truth?
She lifted her hand and lazily swung it around. Charlie and Hurlugo appeared in their normal form.
Charlie breathed heavily, "You...you were gonna eat me." He exclaimed in a betrayed voice.
Hurley shrugged innocently.
