All I want for Christmas is You-Skatecentric, S4, R, one shot, Complete

All I want for Christmas is You

Kate had moved into another house. This one was a little bit bigger than the last one. She found as Jamie grew a little older, he needed more space to run around. It had been 2 years since shed left the island.

Today, Christmas Eve wasnt any easier without him here.
She promised him she would never go back, she promised him she would look out for their child and give him all the things neither of them ever had.

It went against everything in her being to leave him. But there were only 6 extra seats on the helicopter. They promised her they would go back for the rest but Kate knew it was a lie underneath it all. She knew the island had claimed its inhabitants, and the select few who got out first, were the only people it would spare. She knew it, Sawyer knew it.

She remembered that night as if it were yesterday. Wrapping a few presents for Jamie while he took his nap, Kate sat and looked out at the palm trees lining the boulevard. They reminded her of him too. Kate promised herself she wouldnt cry though.

------------------------------------------------------

It started out as a fight. Kate questioning Sawyers motives for the 500th time and finally she just got frustrated with him and stomped off.
Why do you have to do this Sawyer? Why do you have to be this way? Why arent you packing? They will be sending another helicopter for youKnowing she barely believed it herself, but at least he could fight to get off and not just give up like he had.

Sawyer simply clenched his jaw, not bothering to look back at Kate and he replied

Just stick by the Doc, Freckles, hell watch out for you.

He turned around daring to meet her gaze, with eyes filled in anguish. But Sawyer hid it well. He knew he wasnt gonna get off this island, but Kate had a chance. He had to finish out his sentence, but she deserved something better. She had more to think about now.

Kates eyes were brimming with tears but she refused to let them fall, her lip quivering

You dont care about me, or any of it do you? She asked, her voice filled with emotion

And Sawyer looked back reluctantly, replyingIf thats what you gotta tell yourself Freckles then knock yourself out.

He shook his head and waved her off. Turning his back, he didnt know how much longer he could keep this up. It was the hardest thing he ever had to do. Of course when Sawyer turned around, she was gone.

Kate fled, running to the only spot she could think of to clear her head. The waterfall. She didnt want to leave honestly. It was too scary out there. But now that she knew she was pregnant, she knew her life was at risk now. She could not survive on this island. She had to leave.

She didnt want to spend her last night here alone, not knowing if she would ever see him again after tomorrow, Kate wiped her tears. She returned to Sawyers tent, but he wasnt there. It was already dark, and most people had returned to their tents.

She searched and searched, going down the beach, along the shoreline, bonfire after bonfire, as they got dimmer and dimmer and then she finally saw the last bonfire, it was at the end of the beach, farther away from the others, but it was a light nonetheless and Kate quickened her step, knowing instantly, it was his.

Holding the emotion and excitement in her voice she finally arrived and found Sawyer sitting there with a blind gaze staring into the fire. It hurt already and they werent even apart. His eyes rose slowly to meet hers and she stood there swaying for a moment. Unsure all of the sudden what to do. And then it hit her like a ton of bricks.

James. She remarked weakly and he met her gaze puzzled and confused, but within two steps she had collapsed down on top of him, her legs straddling his lap and she smothered her lips over his in a breathtaking kiss. He pulled away breathless and searched her eyes, and Kate nodded knowing what was about to happen, not wanting to talk any longer, they had done enough talking.

She lifted off her top and then started to unbutton his shirt. Both of them lost in the moment lost in each other as kisses were exchanged. Sawyer surrendered to her, and Kates lips trailed his jaw, while he kissed her neck hungrily, his hands moving to her bra as he unfastened it with skill. Kate pushed him back down on the sand and she slid up unbuttoning his pants. Both of them frantically trying to get their clothes off as if they were on fire, and finally they were naked and making love.

First Kate was on top and then Sawyer, and after that they lost count of how many times it happened. Neither one wanting to ever let go, but they both knew they would eventually have to.

Finally falling prey to sleep after they made their way to Sawyers tent, morning finally came and they had to part ways.

Kate not being good with goodbyes left Sawyer in his sleep, placing a red hibiscus flower next to him on the bed she kissed his cheek and whispered a parting of love.

She wished she had something to have of his, but she had their child growing inside her. Leaving with tears in her eyes, Kate didnt want to let Sawyer see her cry and she was gone as quickly as a dream.

--------------------------------------------

Kate had shed enough tears between then and now. Vowing to go back for him, but she soon realized that wherever that island was, it wasnt anywhere she could get to again at the drop of a hat. In the beginning she had tried. But as her pregnancy wore on, it got harder and harder.

When Jamie was born, it was very bittersweet for Kate. She cried that day, wishing beyond her very being that she would someday see him again, and that he could meet his son.

A few days later when she returned home, Kate took their newborn to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time wondering if Sawyer was looking at the same ocean and she took a bottle out. There was a message inside, telling him about his son.

That night she sat by the fire and read Jamie his favorite book. He looked just like Sawyer. And even though he wasnt here with her now Kate thought Jamie had taken on some of Sawyers more famous personality traits, like hoarding toys, and an interest in reading. He loved all books. It pained her and made her heart swell at the same time.

She started to read him The Night before Christmas as he began to drift off, changing some of the words around...

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that your daddy would soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma and her kerchief, in papas lap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winters nap.

She kissed his golden head of hair and lifted him to his bed. It was nights like this one which made things so hard. And Kate came back out to the living room. She sat in front of the fire staring into it blindly. And drifted off with a blanket, dreaming about that last night.

It was into the early hours of morning when Kate was awoken by a phone ring. She instantly thought something was wrong, perhaps Jack had gotten into more trouble at work or Sun needed her. But she was surprised when she picked it up and heard the voice on the other end.

Kate?

Her breath quivered and she sat up straight recognizing his voice instantly, wondering if it was a dream, her eyes became teary

Sawyer!

The tears ran down her cheek and she all the sudden didnt know what to say, but the words came out anyway

How are you? Is everyone okay? Are you okay? How did you find a phone?

They offered me a dea*** Ka** His phone was starting to break up and

Kate stood up trying to hear his words

A deal? They offered you a deal? Kate asked.

YeahSame **** the Doc g**

Kates head spun and he continued

He knowsWere gon** try ** turn *** table*

His voice was breaking up more and Kate replied

Sawyer youre breaking up.I cant hear you

Cant t**k longB** * just want** y** to know

Kates breathing increased and she started to feel that pit in her stomach, all the anguish of the past two years coming to surface, she heard a couple clicks on the phone and panicked thinking she could lose him

Sawyer, no please dont goI miss you so muchpleaseI..Ilove you...

Her voice pleaded and then she heard the end of his reply after another click

* **** you too Kate

And then the line went dead.

Her heart stopped and her mind swam.

Surely this wasnt it. After 2 years of wondering and longing for him, a phone call wasnt all she would get. He had done his time; she wanted to scream it to him. She wanted to yell at him for refusing to come along when he had the chance. Why did he do all of this? Why? She asked herself angrily as she paced the floor nervous and apprehensive.

But he was alive, Kate thought. A grateful smile finally coming to her face in realization that he was alive and talking to her.

Kate felt the tears come again, tears of joy, looking at the embers in the little fire in front of her.

She went back to Jamies room and gazed in on him sleeping. Kate couldnt help but smile, he looked just like him, and she kissed his forehead as she ran her hand through his long blonde locks. Holding his hand, she replied in a whisper

Hes coming home munchkinYour daddys coming home.

Feeling a sense of renewed hope Kate came back and kissed his cheek, right across those killer trademark dimples and then she closed the door behind her.

Leaning against the wall, Kate looked into the fire, the element which represented hers and Sawyers relationship best and she smiled softly to herself gazing at the clock on the wall. It was well after midnight, which meant it was Christmas morning. And she realized she had gotten her Christmas wish after all.
